Who Tha Hell? GENEVIEVE JONES

OK, so I am reading one of my favorite blogs: Leah Janelle: In My Shoes...., reading the comments I noticed a reader asking; "Who is Genevieve Jones". I'm like who the hell is she? Who ever knows me knows that I am the queen of google. LMAO! Tmobile made the G1 phone personally for me. (YeahRight!)

Reading through the google results I am seeing a headlines from Nylon Mag, Blogs, Vogue , and much other publications labeling her as the "It" girl. Now I've been reading articles about this young lady, who seems to have "appeared" out of no where. Its confusing because all that i know about her is that she eventually became an accessories designer,(CLICK HERE for her website). I think that she is beautiful in a cutesy I want to pinch those chubby cheeks way. I am still confused of how she has gotten her status. An article posted in 2006 said that she came from a middle class family; her father works for EXXON Mobile and her mother a house wife. But another article stated that she has always been apart of high social status.

Ok, so obviously she has haters! Lots of them. Most that think that she is ugly and that most of her designs are trash. What do I think of Ms. Jones. I find her intriguing for some odd reason. Maybe I want to figure out how she got her claim to fame so that I might follow in her foot steps. I love the fact that she has a secret and she isn't telling us, Plus her style is impeccable! lol Go Girl!

Oh by the way the only dirt that i could dig up on her was that she lied about her age and where she is from. Who Cares !

I have a new SHE-ro : Genevieve Jones!!
Oh,BTW; She is skinny like me!! (inside joke to my friends)

Ohh Lily Lily!!

Yes I know summer is over, but these rompers are toooo cute. They are on sell at the Lily Lily website for about $92 (original price $185). I've only seen these two colors here. But the size are limited. The top is supposed to be convertible, you can wear it in a halter, tube or criss-cross shape! I love how the legs are designed to a slight puff to the edge. Blue is my favorite color but I think that I would look best in the cream. For our Eco friendly shoppers the materials consist Bamboo Jersey (67% bamboo, 30% organic cotton, 3% spandex). So imagine how airy this romper would be on that hot summer day with the "Beau"! LOL I LOVE THIS SET!!
This is my way of wearing: I kept it simple and earthly. I love stilettos, so I added a strappy sandal to lenghten the legs, my legs are my favorite body parts. Stuck with the wooden accessories to give off that "Mother Earth" vibe.

I Rocked The Vote

Yesterday was an unbelievable experience for me. It was my first time voting at the poll.My last time voting was an absentee ballot. Here are some Photos.

The volunteers at Samuel Chase Elementary School, in Temple Hills,MD, were the best. They made this the best experience of my through encouragement and praises. Despite the gloomy weather, and the long hours, I was greeted with smiles from each one. Thank you!Smiles are very contagious. I was grinning ear to ear as I casted my vote.

It was a blessing that my fiance and I were able to vote together.

It was an unexplainable feeling. I know some people are wondering what's the big deal. I honestly do not know. It was a natural high for me. My daughter stayed home with my mother, due to the unpredictable weather and not knowing how long to expect the wait.

The next morning she shared the excitement with us.

King MagaZine/Budwiser @ Ibiza on the roof top

Marvin, Milani Rose, Me

This event was a Happy Hour Merged, Promo Party for King Magazine's Web Girl of the Year- Milani Rose. She is gorgeous in person, and personality was cool. I loved her. She chatted, took pics, and gave out autographs, while actually having fun. I been to events in the Past where the celeb acted shitty, didnt want to speak to fans. But Milani was cool. She had my fiance grinning from ear to ear while she was harmlessly flirting with him. (I am not the jealous type.)

The Prices on the drink were up there!! The cheapest item at the bar was water for $5. I spoke with the beautiful bar tender Jessica about the prices for a moment. She smiled the whole time and offered to "hook" me up with a drink for $9 called the italian something. It was very delicious and fruity. That was the drink that put me on my bottom. LOL.
Jessica from the Ibiza Staff

Wayne Coffin, was promoter and organizer for the event was in the best mood, as always.
The event was the best I ever attended. The crowd was beautiful, and the music was excellent.Decor and size was excellent. I believe I counted three dance floors, not including the roof top. I didn't manage to stay when the club thing open. Regardless I had ball.

My Photos from the event will not post to my blog, so here is the myspace link

Don't Call It A Comeback: They Been Here For Years

Sorry LL : ( I am referring to the fedora.

A fedora is a soft
felt hat that is creased lengthwise down the crown and pinched in the front on both sides.

The hat is sometimes associated with
Prohibition-era gangsters and detectives In Hollywood movies of the 1940s, characters often wore a fedora, particularly when playing private detectives, gangsters, or other "tough guy" roles.

Now you can see them rocked on the caps of females. I love these hats because the styles, colors, and materials are very unpredictable. ( and so are the prices)

Imma get me one how about you?

Nope, Not This Time : ' (

Sorry guys, I didn't make it as the local artist's stylist. **SNIFF** **SNIFF** Imma be strong!! J/K
Yea I am a little salty but it is ok, I hope that she chose the best person to fit her.
I am still pursuing my dream, I refuse to give up just because one door closed for me. Its difficult coming back into the industry empty handed. But hey so is life. Its kinda like a actress coming out of retirement looking for new work. Frustrating, yea it is. I am keeping the faith!! Hurray For Me!! I am planning to take courses in the late fall to become "certified". I refuse to give up, I worked too hard for this.
Thnx everyone for your support and your prayers: GOOGLE ME!!

The "object" in the mirror are closer to her dream than it may appear!!

Although I am a very humble person, I must say that I am very proud of myself. Last week I applied to be a local artist wardrobe stylist. I made Top 5 out of 40 people who also signed up. First we had to fill out a Q & A form to tell a little about ourselves and why we want to be this artist's stylist. Yea I made it through that!! Next, the applicants had to create outfits that would best fit the scenario of the artist's performance. We were given a budget for each store where we were supposed to "shop". I passed that test and made it to the phone interview with her PR/ Manager. We spoke for a little over 20 minutes, and I was asked to attend the final interview where the artist will select her stylist based off the entries submitted. I will receive a email either today and tomorrow, to meet the local artist and manager face to face Thursday or Friday. Wish me luck!!

Here are my sets that I submitted:

Target- $100

I thought that I did very well on this outfit for just $100 Target has a wider selection, that made it easier for me to complete the set a lot quicker.

Express/Ninewest- $300

The Express/Ninewest was the most difficult and frustrating to me, the selection was very limited and the pieces that I wanted were not in the budget. The sites didn't even have a good pair of gold earrings for me to pair with this outfit. Although this isn't my most spectacular combo. I am somewhat satisfied with the outcome.

Nordstrom- $500

This maxi dress is actually my most favorite combo. I just kept it simple, an empire waist maxi with gold accessories. When ask why I created this, I told the PR that i wanted her outfit simple and chic so that the audience wouldn't be distracted by a loud colorful outfit. This set is actually for the artist's bluesy and soulful tune. I call this the "Encore" dress, saved for the last and most sweetest song off her album.

The Urban Socialite

The traditional "Socialites" who are conceived through wealth, and at time referred to as "old money" are known as people who are always INVOLVED. Meaning that they are always on the scene, or always playing host to the top social gatherings. They can also be referred to being one who is prominent in fashionable society. A few, would actually turn their noses to my term the "urban socialite". Few might say that there is no such thing.

The Urban Socialite, unlike the traditional Socialite, doesn't necessarily come from a bloodline of diamonds. But has a host of friends, network is thick, and primarily considered a local Celebrity.

This is why I am electing Erica" Diva" Day as the Urban Socialite of the DMV. If you are wondering who she is Google her baby! Articles, photos, and other web clutter with her name mentioned will pop up. She has given back to the community by working at a summer camp for underprivileged children, she is very family orientated, and has a tough humble heart. She travels a lot and has graced the pages of "The Yard", "The Washington Post", and did a photo shoot for "College Sports". Oh, if you get a sense of arrogance from Ms. Diva Day, that's just modesty wrapped in struggle.

Ms. Day works very hard and gives 110% in everything that she does, she doesn't sympathise with the weak, but motivates them to try harder.

As of now, Ms. Day a Graduate of Howard University, coaches track for the HU Bison's while pursuing her Masters at HU. She is still involved in thousands of activities through out the Metro Area; fashion shows, social events and just living life to the fullest. Its a wonder how she balances her social life and personal life, and still make exceptional grades.

Thank you Diva Day, for inspiring me to work hard and reap the blessings.

My Dream Vs Destiny

A year ago, when my daughter Chanel was a newborn. I worked as a fashion designer's assistant and as a representative for the clothing line. This work added extra money to our much needed funds, but it couldn't substitute as an actual JOB. I wasn't making money everyday, I was only earning commission and the clothing line was a developing project. But on the other hand I was having so much fun!! I loved the clothing line, and it was very much so appreciated by so many others. It was just the thrill of mingling with so many well know local fashion designers and DC Socialites, that make this work so easy. My favorite adventure, other than meeting well known celebs in the music and fashion industry, was the Fashion Fights Poverty fashion show. Ooh to die for!!! Everything from the color displays on the run way, the Grand Marnier chocolate shots, to the colorful crowds of beautiful young men and women. I never felt so close to my dreams. To be one of those beautiful people in the Fashion Industry. I was a marketing major and planed to be Marketing Director for a well know clothing line. I humbly wasn't worry nor concerned with being rich, having a house on the hill with 20 cars. No, give me a mod-deco condo or 2 level loft that over looks Chinatown, keep that 16 acre mansion in the Hampton's. (Now I wouldn't mind being invited to one for the annual all white party).

Presently, working as a receptionist for a Fortune 500 company. A place where people are so proud of working here and being here; I'm actually afraid that when someone gets fired that they will blow the place up. I'm serious. Yes the money is good, we are surviving. But this job really doesn't interest me. Granted, I get my work done. Lol but there is no satisfaction in this. I am more excited about getting paid than, telling people where I work. Most people would say "well that's all you need". Liars!! Why can't I actually enjoy my job? So now a year later, I am ready to head back into the industry. But I keep getting this feeling of what seems to be an internal war raging within my gut. One side saying "just let it be, you have a perfect job". The other side, " You dreamed of this for so long, and you're so close"

I am at the crossroads...I've actually been standing here for over a year.
